Synapsins are involved in neurotransmitter release. Synapsin I cross-links synaptic vesicles and cytoskeleton. The interactions of the protein with actin filaments and synaptic vesicle are regulated by phosphorylation. Synapsin I has many potential phosphorylation sites available to different enzymes, serines 62 and 67 are phosphorylated by extracellular signal-regulated kinases 1 and 2 of the mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase superfamily. Map-kinase phosphorylation of synapsins is a key step in the modulation of neurotransmitter release by brain-derived neurotrophic factor. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:500-1:1000 Immunohistochemistry (Formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 10ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
