STEAP3 is transcriptionally activated by p53, while its gene product associates with Myt1 kinase, a negative regulator of the G2/M transition and with Nix, a proapoptotic Bcl-2 related protein. Elevation of TSAP6 augments cell-cycle delay and apoptosis suggesting that TSAP6 may play a role in tumor suppression.
