Stargazin is a 36kD member of the transmembrane AMPAR regulatory proteins (TARP) family, which plays a vital role in the regulation of the trafficking and localisation/targeting of synaptic AMPA (-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methylisoxazole-4-propionate) receptors (AMPARs). AMPARs are a major group of ionotropic glutamate receptors, highly concentrated at the postsynaptic density (PSD) of excitatory synapses, which require strict regulation for the control of synaptic strength in the brain. Stargazin has been identified as a vital AMPAR-interacting protein which binds to AMPARs via its extracellular domain, whilst interacting with PDZ scaffolding proteins such as PSD-95, via a cytosolic C-terminal PDZ-binding motif. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1,000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
