ST5 gene products are expressed as 4.6, 3.1 and 2.8kb transcripts encoding putative 126, 82 and 70kD proteins. The largest ST5 protein, p126, stimulates MAP kinase activation in response to EGF. A second isoform, p82, derived from an alternatively spliced mRNA species, lacks a 420aa segment containing the SH3 binding motifs, and does not stimulate MAP kinase activity. The smallest of the three ST5 isoforms, p70, consists of the 609 C-terminal aa shared in common by all three gene products. This protein has homology to the rab3 class of small GTP-binding guanine-nucleotide exchange factors and also to the MAPK Activating Death Domain protein. p70 has been shown to inhibit signaling through p126. This isoform may also play a role in tumor suppression. ST5 proteins also have been shown to participate directly in events affecting cytoskeletal organization and tumorigenicity.
Suitable for use in ELISA and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
