Form: Supplied as a lyophilized powder. Soluble in acidic buffer (maximum 4mg/ml), but difficult to dissolve in neutral buffer. In order to dissolve this product in neutral buffer, first dissolve in 0.01 or 0.05M acetic acid, and then add into neutral buffer containing 0.2M NaCl or dialyze against the same buffer. To avoid fibril formation under neutral conditions, it is recommended to use a buffer containing 0.15-0.2M NaCl and keep on ice. To prepare a collagen gel, dissolve in neutral buffer containing 0.15-0.2M NaCl and incubate it at 37 degrees C for 1-2 hr.
