Citromycetin was independently isolated and named from a number of different fungal species during the 1930s to 1950s and subsequently shown to be identical. Citromycetin found to be active against Gram positive bacteria. NCI studies demonstrated the lack of activity against tumors and AIDS. Citromycetin is an interesting metabolite which less received little attention in modern times.

Storage and Stability:
Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20 degrees C. Stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. Reconstitute with ethanol, methanol, DMF or DMSO. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
