CD4, a single chain transmembrane glycoprotein, is found on a T cell subset (helper/inducer) representing 45% of peripheral blood lymphocytes. It is also present on 80% of thymocytes and at a lower level on monocytes. It is involved in recognition of antigen presented along with MHC class II by APCs. It serves as receptor for HIV. Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Flow Cytometry: Neat, use 10ul to label 10e6 cells in 100ul. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Recommended Negative Control: I1904-84B2: IgG2a NEGATIVE CONTROL, Murine (PE) Hybridoma: NS1 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4 degrees C. Reconstitute by adding sterile ddH2O. Aliquot and store at 4 degrees C. DO NOT FREEZE! Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months. Freezing R-Phycoerythrin (PE) conjugates will result in a substantial loss of activity. PE conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap.

Additional info: Recognizes bovine CD4. Precipitates a molecule of ~50kD and is considered to be the bovine homologue of Human CD4. The phenotype, tissue distribution and function of T-cells expressing the bovine CD4 antigen are similar to those in other species. Expression on macrophages has not yet been detected.
