This antibody recognizes a protein of 38kD, identified as synaptophysin. It labels normal neuroendocrine cells of human adrenal medulla, carotid body, skin, pituitary gland, thyroid, lung, pancreas, gastrointestinal mucosa, Paneth's cells in the gastrointestinal tract and of gastric parietal cells. Neurons in the brain, spinal cord, and retina are also labeled. Anti-synaptophysin antibody reacts with neuroendocrine neoplasms of neural as well as epithelial types e.g. neuroblastomas, ganglioneuroblastomas, ganglioneuromas, pheo- chromocytomas, chromaffin, and non-chromaffin paragangliomas. In combination with anti- chromogranin A and anti-NSE, antibody to synaptophysin is very useful in the identification of normal neuroendocrine cells and neuroendocrine neoplasms.
Applications:
Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:
Immunohistochemistry: 1:300 for 10min at RT
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0 for 10min followed by cooling at RT for 20min.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
