Slit proteins are ligands at the Roundabout (Robo) receptors and act as guidance cues in axonal migration/navigation during neural development, at the ventral midline of the neural tube. Slit1 and Slit2 are essential for midline guidance in the forebrain by acting as repulsive signals preventing inappropriate midline crossing by axons projecting from the olfactory bulb. Alternative splicing isoforms have been identified for Slit1 protein. Slit1 is predominantly expressed in adult forebrain, though also expressed in fetal brain, lung and kidney. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunofluorescence, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:500-1:2000 ELISA: 1:10,000-1:50,000 Immunohistochemistry (Formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 5ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
