Telomycin is a complex high molecular weight depsipeptide discovered in 1958. The structure was subsequently solved in 1968. Telomycin possesses potent and highly selective activity against Gram positive bacteria both in vitro and in vivo when given by intramuscular administration. Orally, telomycin is thought to be poorly absorbed. Despite its structural novelty, telomycin has received little attention. Source: Telomycin Molecular Weight: ~1272.3 Solubility: Soluble in ethanol, methanol, DMF or DMSO. Moderately soluble in water. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20 degrees C. Stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. Reconstitute with ethanol, methanol, DMF or DMSO. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
