SSEA-4 is expressed on the surface of human embryonal carcinoma (EC) cells (the pluripotent stem cells of teratocarcinomas), human embryonic germ cells (EG), and human embryonic stem cells (ES). Expression of SSEA-4 is down regulated following differentiation of human EC cells. In contrast, the differentiation of murine EC and ES cells may be accompanied by an increase in SSEA-4 expression. (1-4) Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Flow Cytometry: Use 10ul to label 10e6 cells. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
