Active human SUMO-I (the 1-97 amino acid region of the Ubiquitin-like protein SMT3C precursor also named Ubiquitin-homology domain protein PIC1, Ubiquitin-like protein UBL1, Ubiquitin-related protein SUMO-I, GAP modifying protein-I, GMP-I, and Sentrin-I. Human SUMO-1 (small ubiquitin-like modifier) is an 11kD protein that shares 18% sequence homology with ubiquitin. Smt3p, which is 48% identical to human SUMO-1, has been identified in yeast. SUMO-1/Smt3p is activated by a heterodimeric E1 enzyme in both the yeast and mammalian systems It has been shown that SUMO-1 can be conjugated to a number of proteins such as PML, RanGAP1, I B, FAS/apolipoprotein-1, p53, RAD51 and RAD52. Recombinant Human SUMO1 is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain having a molecular mass of 20kD as seen on SDS-PAGE. Endotoxin: (same/less than) 0.1ng/ug (IEU/ug) of ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
