proBMP-2 is the pro-protein of BMP-2 and processed by proteases into mature BMP-2. The role of the pro-sequence that exceeds in length (263 amino acids) the mature part (114 amino acids) is currently not known. The rh proBMP-2 correponds to the authentic natural protein with 377 amino acids. Rh proBMP-2 is recombinantly expressed in Escherichia coli, native protein is obtained upon refolding of inclusion body material. Molecular mass: 85.476kD Biological Activity: Recombinant, Human proBMP-2 administration leads to ectopic bone formation ion rats (Hillger et al., 2005). Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile 20mM AcOH with 0.1% HSA or BSA and store at -20 degrees C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
