An important inhibitory neurotransmitter. Foods that contain g-aminobutyric acid (GABA) can have an immediate effect of suppressing autonomic nerve activity related to blood pressure increase. Reacts with isothiocyanates to produce thioureas which have antifungal activity. Acts as a GABAA and GABAB receptor agonist. Melting Point: 196-198 degrees C Storage and Stability: Stored at 4 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at 4 degrees C.
