This gene is a member of the EPO/TPO family and encodes a secreted, glycosylated cytokine composed of four alpha helical bundles. The protein is found in the plasma and regulates red cell production by promoting erythroid differentiation and initiating hemoglobin synthesis. This protein also has neuroprotective activity against a variety of potential brain injuries and antiapoptotic functions in several tissue types.
E3455-07H is recombinant human erythropoietein alpha, produced in CHO cells. It is a single polypeptide chain containing 166aa with a predicted molecular mass of 21kD and an apparent molecular mass of 30.4kD.
Suitable for use in Functional Assays. Other applications not tested.
The specific activity was measured by normocythaemic mice and found to have an activity of ~120,000 IU/mg.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:
Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20 degrees C. Stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O, 0.1% BSA or HSA. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
