Human CD79b is the B cell antigen receptor Igb chain (BCR-Igb) which associates with B cell antigen receptor Iga chain to form a functional heterodimer that interacts with membrane immunoglobulin (mIg). The mIgM component binds antigen and the Iga/Igb heterodimer transduces signals. Functional Application: Antibody is able to induce signal transduction in B cells.
