CD48, a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, is a 43kD GPI-anchored single chain glycoprotein. It is widely and strongly expressed on hematopoietic cells with the exception of granulocytes (some on eosinophils), platelets and erythrocytes. CD48 expression is increased following activation of B and T cells. CD48 has been reported to bind CD2, but with an affinity considerably lower than CD58, the major CD2 ligand. Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Flow Cytometry: 10ul/10e6 cells Immunohistochemistry: Frozen and paraffin sections Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. FITC conjugates are sensitive to light.
