Human CD4 is a cell surface glycoprotein of 55kD expressed on most thymocytes, on about two thirds of peripheral T cells, and on some monocyte macrophage lineage cells. The extracellular portion of CD4 is an array of four Ig-like domains. The amino terminal region of CD4 is a receptor for the HIV-1 viral protein gp120. CD4 interacts with MHC Class II molecules in an accessory role during foreign antigen recognition by T cells. Functional Application: Antibody will block binding of HIV-1 gp120 protein to CD4 (4) and also blocks HLA Class II Rosette formation. Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
