CD22 is a type I integral membrane protein and a member of the sialoadhesin family of cell surface receptors. While it is expressed in the cytoplasm as early as the pro-B cell stage, it appears on the cell surface only upon the expression of membrane-bound IgD. It is found on only the most mature B cells and is rapidly lost with terminal differentiation. CD22 functions in B cell differentiation and homotypic adhesion.1-5 Applications:
