Cultivation of fastidious aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. Description: Brain Heart Infusion Broth without Dextrose is a modification of the media described by Rosenow and Hayden in which infusion from calf brains has replaced the brain tissue and disodium phosphate has replaced the calcium carbonate buffer. The addition of 0.1% agar can be used to lower oxygen tension to enhance the growth of anaerobic organisms. Brain Heart Infusion Broth without Dextrose is a basal medium used with added carbohydrates for fermentation studie Storage and Stability: Store powdered media at RT. Opened bottles should be capped tightly and kept in a dark, low humidity environment. Prepared media should be kept refrigerated and used within a short period of time.
