3-hydroxykynurenine, a chromophore metabolite of tryptophan, acts as UV protectant and an antioxidant in vertebrate lens. This compound reacts with proteins to induce cross-linking and chromophore adducts. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunocytochemistry, Immunofluorescence, Immunohistochemistry (paraffin) and Western Blot, Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence: 1:100-1:200 Western Blot: 2ug/ml. Band at ~66kD observed for 3-OHKYN-modifed BSA. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Cellular Localization: Cytoplasmic Positive Control: 3-OHKYN modified BSA Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Additional info: Specific for 3-hydroxykynurenine modifications on N-alpha-acetyl lysine, N-alpha-acetyl histidine, N-alpha-acetyl arginine, and N-alpha-acetyl cysteine. It does not recognize the transaminase enzyme involved in the degradation of tryptophan. Reacts with 3-OHKYN modifications in human proteins.
